Volunteering at the Baabaas
Every community rugby club runs on volunteers, and Casuarina Beach Rugby Club is no different. Our volunteers set up the fields, cook the sausages, run the scoreboard, organise the teams and keep the whole place ticking along. Without them there is no game day.
You don’t need to sign up for a big role. Some of our helpers lend a hand once a season. Others do a canteen shift every few weeks, or join the committee and help steer the club. Whatever time you have, there is a way to get involved that suits your skills and your week.
If you’ve never volunteered before, that’s fine. We’ll show you the ropes, and you’ll meet some great people along the way

Executive committee Roles
President
Leads the club, chairs committee meetings and represents us in official matters with unions, sponsors and the community.
Busiest: all year, plus home games and key events
Vice President
Backs the President and runs home game days, making sure every team is set up, supported and safe.
Busiest: every home game day in season
Secretary
Keeps the club organised. Takes the minutes, manages correspondence and gets information to the right people.
Busiest: monthly meetings, with a steady inbox all year
Treasurer
Looks after the club’s money. Keeps the books, pays the bills and reports to the committee each month and at the AGM.
Busiest: monthly reporting, peaking at the AGM
general committee / Volunteer Roles
Registrar
Makes sure everyone who takes the field is registered, eligible and insured. Handles transfers and keeps player records up to date.
Busiest: pre-season and the start of the season
Game Day Manager
Runs home game logistics with the Vice President. Field set up, the volunteer roster, officials and safety on the day.
Busiest: Friday nights and Saturdays in season
Junior Coordinator
Leads our Friday night juniors in the Far North Coast competition.
Busiest: Friday nights in season
Coaching Coordinator
Backs every coach in the club, junior and senior, and keeps coaching consistent with player welfare front and centre.
Busiest: pre-season and through the season
Grants Coordinator
Tracks down grants from government, councils and community funders, writes the applications and handles reporting on funds won.
Busiest: around grant rounds through the year
Communications & Media Officer
Tells the club’s story through social media, newsletters, the website and local media.
Busiest: weekly through the season
Volunteer Coordinator
Builds the team behind the team. Brings new families into volunteering, helps them settle in and makes sure they feel valued.
Busiest: the start of the season and major events
Events & Fundraising Coordinator
Plans the social calendar, from awards nights and presentation days to fundraisers that bring people together and money in.
Busiest: around each event on the calendar
Merchandise & Gear Steward
Orders, stocks and sells club gear and player apparel, building club pride and raising funds along the way.
Busiest: pre-season orders, then game days
Canteen Coordinator
Runs the canteen day to day. Stock, staffing, equipment and food safety, plus a friendly welcome at the counter.
Busiest: game days, events and some training nights
Club Captain
The senior players’ voice on the committee. Brings their views to the table, rallies players behind the club and leads post match speeches.
Busiest: training and match days in season
